Derby County Season Preview

The start of August can mean only one thing. It’s time for the footy to start a new season! We have enjoyed a pretty good sporting summer thus far as well! Between Wimbledon, the Ashes, the Copa America and the Tour de France as personal highlights, the break has gone quickly.

So today I thought I’d write up my season preview for our local stars at Derby County! With the new season come new faces. First of all, the new head coach, Paul Clement. He comes in from being Real Madrid’s long serving assistant manager. We hope he can bring some success to this season and get us that promotion we deserve!
One of his first decisions has been to promote Chris Baird to captain. Along with that we have seen seven new signings join us over the summer so far. It will be interesting to see how quickly the new look side will gel together in competitive fixtures.

The first fixture of the season is away at Bolton. We will be looking to take advantage of Bolton losing some key players over the summer to start off the season in the best possible way – 3 points!

The first home game of the season sees us take on Charlton and the stadium should be full and lively! With the papers giving us the strongest squad on paper, we should hopefully be in for a great season.

Target: Promotion.
